My sister made a request for 'healthy' granola bars that she could bring with her to school while she spends LONG hours at the architeture studio studying and working on projects. She wanted something that not only filled her tummy but was tastey too. I found this recipe and it could not have been easier. It was really hard for me to give them away. I individually wrapped them in plastic wrap so she would grab one like a candy bar and throw it in her bag.
Chewy Dark Chocolate Granola Bars
Adapted from Adventures in My Freezer

1 c. rice crispies
1 c. flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c. melted butter
1 mashed banana
1/2 c. honey
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. Dark Chocolate M&M's
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. slivered almonds
Preheat oven to 325F. Grease a 9" x 13" pan.
In large bowl, mix everything except the chocolate raisins and nuts. Add those after the oatmeal mixture is well mixed.
Press into pan. Bake for 18-22 min, until golden brown. Cool 10 min, slice. Cool completely before removing from pan.

they look delish!
How long do they keep for?
Kept in the fridge they are good for a week. But you can totally make a big batch and freeze them, pulling a few out when needed.
